Viagra Spam

ABOUT VIAGRA SPAM

The huge success of VIAGRA has made it one of the most common subjects for spam.

When you receive unwanted e-mail selling a product that claims to be VIAGRA, the e-mail does not come from Pfizer, the maker of the real VIAGRA.

Who sends VIAGRA spam?
VIAGRA-related spam typically comes from illegal sites that sell fake VIAGRA. These e-mails use the VIAGRA name but do not come from Pfizer.

  • Pfizer sends e-mail about real VIAGRA only to people who have asked for information.
  • Every e-mail Pfizer sends gives the reader the option to remove his/her name from the mailing list.

Why Pfizer has been unable to stop VIAGRA spam.
Many Web sites and companies that send VIAGRA spam are based in countries where spam is legal. It is difficult and often impossible to track down who is sending the spam.

What you can do to prevent spam

  • Be careful about giving out your e-mail address. Using it for online chat groups or giving your e-mail address to companies may increase the amount of spam you receive
  • Don't buy from illegitimate online sites that send spam. If no one buys from them, they will stop sending spam.

There are also tools that can help reduce spam. However, they may not stop it completely. Two of them are:

  • Filtering software: Software that you load onto your computer to detect spam
  • Mail-hosting services: An outside company monitors your e-mail and works to get rid of spam

Avoid illegal and fake generic Viagra

Web sites selling fake VIAGRA often:

  • Look legitimate and professional, but are not
  • Sound very convincing, but lie or mislead
  • Make claims that are deceiving
